OTHER CLIENT RESOURCES
CCCS (Conditions of Contract for Consultancy Services)
Conditions of Contract for Consultancy Services (CCCS) General use for contracts between clients and consultants for the purposes of procuring and providing consulting services. At the request of Auckland Council, CCCS has been amended to remove the logo’s of the previous individual city councils, and replaced with the endorsement of the single council. The work of ARCG in developing the 2009 version has been acknowledged in the document.  This version is only available in electronic form and is 3rd Edition A (which can be downloaded by clicking the image to the left in PDF).
The standard contract conditions can be downloaded for general use, FREE of charge. The contract agreement and special conditions and/or appendices may be downloaded and edited for specific requirements. Superseded versions of the CCCS document are available for download in the Members Only section, by filtering the Documents Database.

Guideline on the Briefing & Engagement for Consulting Engineering Services
This guideline has been published to assist commercial clients in considering the principal issues involved in briefing, selecting and engaging consulting engineers.

When to use this guideline - to clearly define a brief, establishing where risks fall and who can best manage those risks, plus project management apply to all projects.  Whilst this guideline is more likely to be useful for larger projects (capital value over $500,000 NZD) these principles also apply to smaller projects.

This publication can be downloaded for FREE (by clicking on the image to the left) or a physical copy can be purchased from ACENZ for $10 incl.GST + postage.

Design Documentation Guidelines
The building sector (through the NZ Construction Industry Council) has developed a set of guidelines which clearly define the various design stages possible in a building project.

Late 2016 saw the release of an updated revision to the design guidelines and is timely given the changes in the design and construction industry over the last ten years since the first Guidelines came out.

FIDIC DOCUMENTS & RESOURCES

ACENZ is a member of FIDIC (International Federation of Consulting Engineers) - and therefore recommends the following FIDIC publications - these are available for purchase via FIDIC's website.

"Gold" Book - $91.00
FIDIC Conditions of Contract for Design, Build and Operate Projects
First Edition 2008
ISBN 978-2-88432-052-8

FIDIC has chosen to adopt the green-field Design-Build-Operate scenario, with a 20- year operation period, and has opted for a single contract awarded to a single contracting entity (which will almost certainly be a consortium or joint venture) to optimise the coordination of innovation, quality and performance, rather than award separate contracts for design-build and for operation. The contractor has no responsibility for either financing the project or for its ultimate commercial success. This is the basis upon which this document has been prepared. The document, as written, is not suitable for contracts which are not based on the traditional Design Build-Operate sequence, or where the Operation Period differs significantly from the 20 years adopted.

"Silver" Book - $91.00
FIDIC Conditions of Contract for EPC/Turnkey Projects
First Edition 1999
ISBN 2-88432-021-0

The Conditions of Contract for EPC/Turnkey Projects, which are recommended where one entity takes total responsibility for the design and execution of an engineering project. Under the usual arrangements for this type of contract, the entity carries out all the Engineering, Procurement and Construction: providing a fully-equipped facility, ready for operation (at the "turn of the key"). This type of contract is usually negotiated between the parties.

"Red" Book - $91.00
FIDIC Conditions of Contract for Construction for Building and Engineering Works Designed by the Employer
First Edition 1999
ISBN 2-88432-022-9

Conditions of Contract for Construction, which are recommended for building or engineering works designed by the Employer or by his representative, the Engineer. Under the usual arrangements for this type of contract, the Contractor constructs the works in accordance with a design provided by the Employer. However, the works may include some elements of Contractor-designed civil, mechanical, electrical and/or construction works.
