ABOUT THE ACENZ YOUNG PROFESSIONALS

ACENZ Young Professionals are an integral part of the goals and future strategy of the organisation and industry, they are the elements or building blocks for the future of the industry. As the Trusted Advisor providing business leadership in matters relating to the built and natural environment, we seek to assist the next generation of leaders through the ACENZ Young Industry Leaders Group.

Founded in 2013, under the leadership of President Lyall Green, identifying a need to empower the Young Leaders in the industry, ACENZ began the Young Industry Leaders Group. We welcome all Young Professionals (35 and younger) and any others who want to support the next generation through mentor relationships and experience sharing to benefit the entire industry.

The group has a dedicated session at conference each year to learn from industry experts and to
network with peers as a way to share knowledge and experience to better the industry. In addition to conference, ACENZ seeks to host a handful of networking events or “After 5’s” throughout the year in the three major centres of Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch. Similarly we are interested to hear about ideas you might have for supporting Young Professionals in the regional firms.

ACENZ hopes to focus this Young Professionals group on business related topics, rather than technical training. Some examples of topics to be covered will be Consulting 101, the hard conversations that consultants face, managing relationships, contract basics, etc. We are always looking for ideas or suggestions on topics to cover.

All ACENZ events qualify for professional development credit, all the better to attend! Then our première achievement for Young Professionals can be reached through the Future Leader Award, ACENZ’s own award to recognise potential future and business leaders within member firms.

To sign up for the Young Leaders Group, email Holly Morchator contact your local area representative for more information.
